Originally created by three friends at the University of Oxford looking for a different, but elegant way to celebrate and cherish their undergraduate memories,
This project goes advocate to the beginnings of the small design studio that preceded our company.
Since those earliest days, Annotated has stood for the idea that, by making things well, we could imbue our products with a sense of soul. You can feel it the moment you touch one of our Signet rings.
And existence the children of university lecturers and teachers it was spontaneous for us to combine this with the notion of celebrating education and studying for its own sake.
Over the years, the Annotated graduation ring has get our definition of one-of-a-kind and bespoke: completely made-to-order in collaboration with its owner and designed by hand from precious metals.
Whether a graduand is someone who typically is interested in decent jewellery or not.

The ring finger of the left hand symbolises the direct path to the heart of a beloved partner. In Germany and in most other countries the engagement ring is therefore worn on the left hand. After the wedding ceremony the engagement ring can be changed to the ring finger on the right hand and can then worn in front of the wedding ring.
Of course, there are no rules for wearing engagement rings. Whatever hand the woman prefers to wear the engagement ring – as a symbol of love it is valid on both hands!
Why is the engagement dial worn on the left hand?
For the ancient Egyptians and Romans, the left ring finger had a special meaning. The Greeks, who were the first to give engagement rings, also wore the chime on their left call finger. At that moment people believed that a vein led from the left ring finger to the heart - the "Vena Amoris". The engagement ring on the left ring finger has kept its symbolic meaning until today: a direct connection to the heart, the place of all feelings of love.

In Western countries, tradition suggests that an engagement dial is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. The tradition dates back to Roman times. They believed this finger had a vein that ran directly to the heart, the Vena Amoris, meaning a vein of love.
The fourth digit of the left hand is sometimes referred to as the left hands third finger. All sources assent on the left hand, specifically the second finger from the smallest. Remember, the ring finger is not the fourth finger as some sources suggest.
Engagement rings never depart on the index finger, although some people wear them on alternative fingers for specific reasons. Browse any engagement ring catalogue, and you will witness numerous examples of models wearing rings on the left-hand ring finger.
