Le Niger, qui travaille à la réforme de son code pénal, prévoit une section consacrée à l’homosexualité, qui sera pénalisée, ainsi que le « mariage gay », passible de 10 ans de prison à la perpétuité ou même de la peine capitale.
En décembre dernier, dénonçant un vide juridique, plusieurs députés nigériens annonçaient vouloir criminaliser les relations homosexuelles, jugées « contraires aux croyances religieuses et culturelles du pays », à travers une proposition de réforme du code pénal local (hérité de la colonisation en ).
