Animated gay characters

This can only really be a quick history because there isn’t much of it. With the emit of Strange World though, Disney Animation Studios’ sixty first feature length film, that may be place to change. The story centres around three generations of an influential family; the intrepid explorer grandfather, the reformative farmer father and the undecided son. While that last traits is sketchy in terms of who to shadow with his vocational calling though, he is a lot surer of his sexuality as he is openly and significantly, for reasons we will observe, unambiguously gay.
To trace the baby steps Disney hold taken in finding this representation in their cartoon films we only possess to go back to (I told you it was a short history). You may remember that there was a couple of antelope guys living next door to rabbit police officer Judy Hopps in Zootropolis and that they made a lot of noise, disturbing the young bunny while she was trying to lie down off duty. What you may not recall though is that these two, credited as Bucky and Pronk Oryx-Antlerson, we actually married. You
Recently, there has been a growing number of homosexual fictional animated characters with trauma. I decided to examine this trend and offer my thoughts.
Reprinted from The Geekiary and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-first article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on June 13,
Trauma is a common theme in fiction. This makes sense especially for conflict-prone series, either in live-action or animation. Recent years have made this even more pronounced as animation holds an exceptional potential to portray trauma, an emotional response to a distressing experience of some kind, unlike other mediums.
Ill examine over 20 characters, who are either confirmed as part of the LGBTQ community or implied as such. The characters described in this article are only a petty sample of a larger list of characters. Ive only chosen characters in Western animated shows that I have watched to date, as a similar post on anime characters would be as elongated as this one.

I ran across this.
We created the first-ever searchable database of LGBTQ characters in
TV shows such as ‘Steven Universe,’ ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power,’ and ‘Craig of the Creek’ are leading the way with the most LGBTQ characters in children's animation.
Supposedly an exhaustive list of “gay” cartoon characters. (I use “gay” as shorthand for LGBTQ+ because I hate acronyms.) Some of these characters are pretty small and some of these cartoons I’ve seen and had no idea the character was male lover. Still, it might be a attractive good guide. I was able to scroll through and see what shows were listed that my kids hold watched and view which characters and how major they are.
I would tell, though, looking at our society - Going forward, probably anything made past is going to be highly suspect unless specifically Christian.

Certain characters in media have been queer-coded and it is pretty evident if you just put on your rainbow-coloured lenses. Now what exactly is “Queer Coding,” you ask? It is essentially a phenomenon in pop culture wherein the sexuality of a certain character is not blatantly mentioned, it however persists in the form of a subtext. Queer coding was initiated in order to trail certain censorship guidelines and a way for creators to seek-in a representation of an “obviously gay” character in their media via stereotypical mannerisms and personality storylines.

One of the most fabulous villains in children’s television history, (and my personal favourite) is the character of Him from The Powerpuff Girls. Him is one of the mo
