San Diego Padres and LGBT Groups Join Forces in Show of Solidarity

Join San Diego Pride as we team up with the Padres for the top OUT at the Park yet, as the Padres take on the Miami Marlins at pm on Friday, April 21st at Petco Park.
San Diego Pride’s event at Petco Park has been a collective favorite for LGBT families and Padres fans for many years. Unfortunately, at last year&#;s event, a technical error resulted in a recorded female soloist singing the National Anthem instead of the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus members who had gathered to sing in center field. Emerging out of this incident has arrive a deeper dialogue between the San Diego Padres and the LGBT people, which has primed San Diego for what promises to be the top OUT at the Park to date.

Come show your San Diego Lgbtq+ fest at Petco Park and join the San Diego Homosexual community on Friday, April 11, , for the Padres annual Out at the Park event.

Before the game, there will be a “Tailgate” from pm to pm in a VIP Space in Gallagher Square.

Your Out at the Park Theme Game ticket purchase includes a seat in the Out at the Park section at Petco Park, a commemorative hat and access to the pre-game VIP space in Gallagher Square, food and drinks available for purchase. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated directly to San Diego Pride.

was a year of incredible progress for San Diego Pride, one full of vibrant celebrations, victories, challenges, and triumphs that showcased the resiliency and love our community has to offer. To those of you who include volunteered countless hours, donated skills and time, and celebrated with us, we thank you. Obtain a look back at some of the top moments of Pride from this last year.

1. Build OUT

Year-round volunteer engagement is the heartbeat of Pride and our civic engagement work. We started off the year with a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity, undertaking a variety of jobs including building homes, doing restorations and yard function, and staffing donation centers.

This position the tone for a year full of volunteer-led successes!

2. MLK Holiday Parade

A weekend of celebration continued, Saturday, with what has become the largest one-day public gathering in San Diego every year. Almost , people are expected at San Diego Celebration events Saturday and Sunday.

The parade down University and Sixth Avenue included contingents from police to performers of every kind. There was also representation of LGBTQ+ people and their allies from churches, society health organizations, and local bars.

It's tradition that the march begins with the revved engines of motorcycle riders who proudly contact themselves ‘Dykes on Bikes’.

"Joy is our birthright. It's our gift, and it’s also a weapon that we get to apply to dismantle the systems of oppression," said Kristin Flickinger, Interim Executive Director San Diego Pride.
