Now in its 21st year, NWA Pride is Arkansas’s largest LGBTQ celebration and one of the most powerful cultural events in the region. What began in as a grassroots community gathering has evolved into a bold, joyful, and unrelenting movement, drawing more than 35, people to downtown Fayetteville each June to celebrate love, visibility, identity, and progress.

This year’s festival, taking place from June 27th to the 29th, marks a significant milestone: a decade of marriage equality in the United States. We honor ten years of affection, recognition, and legal dignity for LGBTQ couples, and we reaffirm our commitment to continue the fight for equality and justice.

The celebration includes two days of vibrant festival programming and inhabit performances in the new Upper Ramble, the unforgettable NWA Lgbtq+ fest Parade, the Midwest’s only Transitioned March, and signature events favor Glitterville and Hi Tea. Together, these moments create a weekend of defiant joy, connection, and unapologetic pride.

Touted as the “Gay Capital of the Ozarks,” Eureka Springs is on Vacationer’s list of 22 Little LGBTQ-Friendly Cities in the U.S. So, here’s what you need to realize before you go!

When one thinks of Arkansas, one may think of the Ozark Mountains, southern meal, and nature activities. The name Eureka Springs, located in Arkansas, evokes images of waterfalls and waterways. 

But what you may not know is this town, is also known for its Victorian architecture, and an array of activities from a big kitten sanctuary to ghost tours. It is just as it sounds, really diverse. The City of Eureka Springs was founded in and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places with National Significance. 

Eureka Springs is also notable for being the first city in Arkansas to issue its first same-sex marriage license for Arkansas in It has been touted by other gay publications as one of the “best petty gay cities”, “Gay Capital of the Ozarks”, and “the gayest small town in America”.

The Eureka Springs Diversity Weekend is back after going dark for two years due to the pandemic.

“Everyone is excited to earn back to normalcy after two long years,” Jay Wilks, director of Out in Eureka, said. “There has been a vast response to Spring Diversity and to Miss Coco Peru’s show.”

Wilks has been involved with Out in Eureka since May after Spring Diversity had sparse attendance and the only event was a Common Display of Affection at Basin Park.

“I met with several business owners and community members after and we all decided to reboot diversity and I was asked to brain up Out in Eureka,” Wilks said. “All of the venues are bringing in some great amusement. There will be a lot to do during the weekend for everyone.”

Besides bringing a fun event to town, there is a major economic impact for tourist lodging, retail, restaurant and bar sales. During each Diversity in the Park event, they take surveys and apply collected information to compile a list of rooms night. Visitors are also asked how they heard about Diversity Weekend.

“I then present the information to the
