Jen Hatmaker Celebrates Daughter’s Gay Identity for Pride Month

The admission that this young miss has embraced a sinful identity will only bring pain, brokenness, and pain as she rebels against her Author and his Pos, but also distressing is that her mother—a professing believer—has decided this is something good, to be proud of, and to rejoice. The podcast episode is crude and heartbreaking. Jen Hatmaker, a popular author and speaker, invited her daughter Sydney to discuss her homosexuality and spirituality. The open discussion was part of a special “A Moment of Pride” series on Hatmaker’s “For the Love” podcast.

“This is favor a known fact in our family, and has been,” Hatmaker prefaced the podcast. “This is not news, this is not new news, this is not an announcement.”

Sydney speaks of recognizing she was lesbian around 12 years old (12 years old!), having pretend crushes on boys, and finally comprehension her sexuality thanks to “representation of gay people just in movies and stuff.”

She admits to struggling with confusion and, quite sadly, doing her control comprehensive Bible study to understand varying perspectives.

The interview focuses on Hatmaker&#;s choice to embrace homosexual immorality as consistent with monitoring Jesus. Among other things, Hatmaker describes all the consequences that have resulted from that decision—lost publication contracts, cancelled speaking engagements, estranged friends and church members. She describes a harrowing emotional cost for her decision to saunter away from the 2,year old teaching of the Christian church.

I have previously heard her talk about a lot of this, but one item in particular stuck out to me this time. Texas pastor and reality TV star Brandon Hatmaker issued a lengthy Facebook post Tuesday to say that he percent agrees with his wife, author Jen Hatmaker, when it comes to the belief that monogamous homosexual marriages can be considered holy.

Last week, Jen Hatmaker, who along with her husband stars in HGTV's "My Big Family Renovation," said in an interview with Religion News Service that she does think LGBT relationships can be holy. In the aftermath, Hatmaker received tons of criticism from conservative Christian commenters. Additionally, LifeWay Christian Resources announced that it will no longer sell books and materials featuring Hatmaker.

On Tuesday, Brandon Hatmaker took to Facebook to defend his wife from critics and opened up about how the couple has come to the opinion that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, as long as it is in the form of monogamous marriages.
