here we go again
i live in new york city, and im very proud of new york city for many reasons. one of the things that makes me proud of new york city is that, for themost part, its a place where people can do whatever (and whomever) they want.
having said that, i fully support gay identity and gay rights, but im not gay. and as ive said many times, i hope it werent even an issue. i really do want to live in a world where people feel free to state their love and lust however they see fit, so drawn-out as its in an individual and consensual context.
and im sure if id woken up in time on sunday and gone to the gay pride events that were going on in the city that i wouldve had a wonderful time surrounded by the hundreds of thousands of people who either survive here or who were visiting, but who were celebrating homosexual pride.
i dont understand homophobia. i mean, the worst thing that my gay friends ever execute is occasionally get a poor haircut or masturbate to some old tomof finland playing cards. homophobia is, in my notion, wrong and completely unjustifiable. j
Moby Praises Superior Gays, Wants Gay Kids, Blasts Sally Kern
In an interview with The Advocate's Brandon Voss, electronic harmony artist Moby says he'd “much rather align myself with the gay collective than the direct community” and says that he still stands by statements he made some time ago that gays are “superior to straight people.”
Says Moby: “I also said that if and when I ever have children, I want homosexual children, which didn't really endear me to the Christian right wing of America. There are a lot of people in the world who are virulently homophobic or misogynistic or anti-Semitic, and what baffles me is that if you just look at it empirically, gays, women, and Jews are certainly responsible for far fewer forceful crimes than direct white guys. They've started fewer wars, and they watch over to be successfully educated, fun to hang out with, and they own nice homes, bars, and restaurants.”
As far as his have sexuality goes, Moby refuses to label it: “I just like to deliberate of myself as being pretty open-minded. Also, you never know what the future might take, so I hold no ide
Queering the Dick: Moby-Dick as Coming-Out Narrative
Abstract
Many contemporary critics read Ishmael, Moby-Dick's loquacious narrator, as a homosexual character. The words lesbian and heterosexual would not be coined until , some eighteen years after the events of Moby-Dick; thus, Ishmael comes of age in a moment when there was no language to express or even acknowledge same-sex attraction, and even if there had been, the rigid societal codes that restricted sexuality in the nineteenth century would have prevented him from doing so. Despite these disadvantages, Ishmael, through his "marriage" to Queequeg and, later, his admittance into the homosexual haven of the Pequod, not only manages to reconcile himself to his desires but also learns to celebrate unorthodox sexualities. I propose that Moby-Dick can be read as Ishmael's "coming out narrative"―a genre similar in manner and substance to the bildungsroman (or "novel of education")--in that it depicts a protagonist who, through his initiation into an unabashedly queer community, comes to accept his sexuality and his identity as a queer m
i probably shouldnt be writing right now, cos its late and im very sleepy. but who can resist the lure of a sexy laptop
you understand, the issue of homosexual vs. straight is engaging to me. its courteous of like the issue of catholic vs. protestant. or apples vs. oranges.
personally, i would enjoy to live in a world where there was no distinction between entity gay or straight. what i mean is that i would like to live in a society where it wasnt an issue. where people liked people regardless of their gender. and where no one was ashamed of their sexual orientation. to answer your question, im pretty straight. i undertake find myself much more sexually attracted to women than to men. but i wish that it wasnt an issue.
one of the things i cherish about new york capital is that its a place where gay couples can walk down the street holding hands and/or kissing and no one bothers them. i dislike the fact that there are parts of the world where people are persecuted or made to feel bad for their sexual orientation.
romance and sex and love are really nice things, and when two people (or
