A Netflix Christmas special depicting Jesus as gay has sparked controversy since its release. On Wednesday, a Brazilian judge ordered the streaming service to remove it entirely.

According to The Associated Compress, Rio de Janeiro judge Benedicto Abicair ruled the "blasphemous" satire film must be removed, monitoring a successful petition by a Brazilian Catholic organization and backlash from Christians across the land. As of Thursday, "The First Temptation of Christ" is still available on Netflix.

"Jesus, who's hitting the big , brings a surprise guest to meet the family," the film's description on Netflix reads. "A Christmas distinct so wrong, it must be from comedians Porta dos Fundos."

RIO DE JANEIRO — Police in Rio de Janeiro have identified one of the people responsible for a gasoline bomb attack targeting satirists behind a Christmas program on Netflix that some critics have described as blasphemous.

Officers carried out a search warrant Tuesday morning and found money, a fake firearm, ammunition, a “political-philosophical” shirt and computers, police said in a written statement. Police also had a warrant for the suspect's arrest, but he remains at large.

Police did not immediately discharge other details, including the suspect's name, but planned a news conference Tuesday morning.

The Christmas Eve charge on an empty video production house didn't injure anyone but came as a shock even in a country accustomed to violence. Police are investigating a fire-bomb attack on the Rio de Janeiro office of a production company behind a controversial Christmas unique aired on streaming service Netflix.

The episode, by comedy group Porta dos Fundos, depicts a gay Jesus bringing a boyfriend dwelling to meet his family.
